Emotional Distress Among Pediatric Cancer Patients and their Siblings

Objectives: Cancer being a serious chronic illness, causes profound effects on physical and mental health of the individual as well affects their caregivers family members' health. This study aims to find out burden emotional distress in patients childhood cancer healthy siblings. Methods: It was descriptive cross-sectional study. Parents children undergoing treatment or having completed within past one year were asked complete an interview proforma (Pediatric Emotional Distress Scale) about child’s behaviour over month, scoring each scale 1 5 according frequency symptoms. The data then analysed using SPSS 20. distribution, central tendencies standard deviations calculated accordingly. Results: Almost eighty-five% showed scores above clinical threshold for distress. Eighteen% siblings also had threshold. Patients high levels anxiousness behaviours. Conclusions Childhood is cause major trauma patients. Age-matched usually cope with illness.
